Great guitar for the price

Review Date: April 5, 2008
Reviewer: Eric D. Gero,
I bought this guitar because I wanted to start learning again. It sounds great, and looks good too. The amp is nothing special, but it is fine for someone learning or just messing around.
Great For Beginners

Maestro guitars of any kind are of great quality for the price. If this is ur first electric guitar you'll love it. Two suggestions though. The strings sound good right out of the box but don't last long. New strings is needed fast (heavy duty preferably). Next thing, the amp is pretty amazing for the size but it only has a tone knob so adjusting the sound basically meens really bassy (only the top 3 strings) or really tenor (the bottom 3 strings). Overall a great deal and awsome for beginners. Happy Playing.
Okay guitar

Reviewer: Dustin,
I bought this guitar just to add another to my collection, it plays great and looks great but i would recommend buying a diffrent amp if you are serious about playing this for awhile, when you use distortion if the master volume is up to loud it will buzz very loud. On all amps it does that but it is very loud for an amp that tiny
Both Locking Studs broken in about a year

Got this guitar from local Costco. Looking great, sounds good, till today, less than a year old. Both locking screws on the bridge broke one after another, due to metal fatigue I guess - or poor material used for such an important piece of the instrument. Never happened to any other guitar I played in the past 30 years. This has to be the worst! I only played this guitar a handful times during the year. Just checked on the web, replacements cost $50! Hope this is the exception. I don't know where the papers are so no warranty on this one. Who'd have thought of this? I didn't. Suggest you find something more durable instead.

Thumb down!

Product Description

Here's your chance to own a landmark guitar that changed the sound of rock and blues, the 50th Anniversary 1958 Les Paul Standard. Gibson is producing only 200 of this limited edition.Everything that made the original great is found on this special commemorative edition. The figured maple top is carved to original spec with a solid Honduran mahogany back. The neck is also one-piece mahogany with the historically correct long neck tenon for sustain. The early '50s neck profile is rounded for comfort. The rosewood fingerboard has Gibson's distinctive trapezoid inlays. Side position markers are tortoise, just as on the '58. The stop tailpiece is lightweight aluminum, and the tuners are vintage tulip style, with push-in bushings, just like the original. This anniversary '58 employs CTS potentiometers for volume and tone, as well as the bumblebee capacitors, custom-made for Gibson to replicate the original electronics. Speaking of electronics, we can't leave out the Burstbucker pickups, custom wound to emulate the original late '50s Gibson humbuckers. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish material and methods as the same as was the practice in 1958. Nitrocellulose lacquer continues to evaporate insuring the thinnest possible finish that will never dampen vibrations and supports complex musical waveforms! Prized for enhancing the musical tone, you'll find a nitro finish on nearly all vintage and collectable American guitars. The guitar's nitrocellulose finish is carefully aged by guitar guru Tom Murphy and looks like a carefully maintained 50-year-old guitar! The highly involved antiquing process is done by hand, one guitar at a time, by guitar artisan Murphy. It's not a chemical process, but a very time consuming and tedious job that includes a multitude of elaborate steps. Through much trial and error, Murphy has developed an amazing ability to re-create the checked and chipped finish of a true vintage instrument with great success. Your guitar will carry the look of a th

Beautiful but... really?

Review Date: March 28, 2009
Reviewer: Kaivey, The Big Apple
Um... lets see, for start I do not own it YET but I tested this same type and color guitar out and compared it to many others at the guitar center... sounds gorgeous... so whats the problem you say... its not even $1,500 at the guitar center. Is this one autographed or something??? I must be mistakened but I am about 98% sure that I am not. Actually It wasnt even $1,000... that itself was a discount granted but even without the sale its not this expensive... maybe its just me.

Gibson Guitar Review

Review Date: March 2, 2009
Reviewer: Robert Summers, Wrightstown, WI USA
Apparently my son thinks his guitar is a gift from God that will propel him into stardom. The guitar did arrive on time in great condition. He has played it during every waking moment since he received it. Good price, great customer service.
